LO2 Treatment

-->
Treatment
After great thought we have decided to name our single camera production “stepping into the light”. The reason we have decided to use this title is because we feel this title really suits the main concept of our story which is to break through all your boundaries and to stand your ground for what you really believe in. Our story is about an 18 year old girl, who is facing a lot of difficulties in life. Like all teenagers she is struggling to keep her family life, personal life, social life, and school life in balance. We want to make a realist drama, and we want to make this as realistic as possible as we feel this is a situation most teenager can relate to.

Characters
Our main character is a girl called Aisha, who is a bubbly, full of life character. Generally a nice girl, who wants to live her life to the full, however has a bad attitude towards her parent, who she believes are holding her back from her dreams and desires.
Our second character is Aisha’s mother Sidra, who is a very quiet and shy character. She has never really had a say in her own life or in the life of her daughter. Her husband Hakim has always made the decisions and Sidra has always obeyed. Hakim is very controlling and Sidra has never had the courage to question him.

Our drama is set in an African household. We want to portray a different perspective to what our audience would generally expect to see, as we believe this would be more effective on our audience, and will increase the level of interest our audience show toward our single camera production. We have also decided to put a little twist to our climax to make our drama a bit more dramatic so our audience are left asking to see what happens next. The main message we want to give to our audience is the life is very precious, so treasure every moment you have

Target Audience
We believe our single camera production will interest most age groups; however our target audience is teenagers as we believe teenagers can relate more strongly to our drama than any other age group. We believe the best time slot for our drama would be between 7.30pm and 8.30pm as most teenagers would be more likely to be relaxing at home around this time. We would like this to be broadcasted on BBC as they are not biased.
